Holiday Prepping For Christmas

11/29/2019

Now that Thanksgiving is over (hope it was wonderful for all of you!) if you haven't started already, it's time to get those Christmas decorations out!

There's a few things that need to be done in order to make your Christmas decorating go as smooth and quick as possible.  Here's a few tips and tricks!
CHECK LIGHTS - Pull out your lights and make sure they're still working.  It never hurts to buy a few extra strands for the tree and house, and the best time to have purchased lights was the previous year when everything went on clearance!  If you didn't do that don't worry, do it this year.  If you have a prelit tree put it together and plug it up.  If lights are out then refer to the instructions (that you hopefully kept) on how to fix them.

DO INVENTORY -Pull out the ornaments and do a refresher.  Do you want to use the same ornaments from the previous year or do you want to switch things up?  Always decide on a theme for your tree(s) because that will make the decorating much easier!  Think about donating decor that you no longer want as well, including trees.  I donate my old holiday decor, including artificial trees, to the Salvation Army every year!

THE LIST - Once you've checked your lights, did inventory on your ornaments and trees, it's time to make a list of all the things you need.  A lot of stores have sales now on everything Christmas.  Watch the ads weekly for the best deals, especially on trees.  Decide on a budget and try your best to stick to it (remember you still have gifts to buy)!

CLEANING - Time to clean the house before you put up any decor!

These are just a few important tips and tricks to prepping for holiday decorating.  I'll go more in depth in the next blog post about themes.  Until then, happy prepping!
